These tests will provide a reasonably accurate view of students' KS levels if administered according to these rules:

  • Set at least three levels of test, one at, one just above, and one just below the predicted level of each student.
  • Set two attempts per test, so students initially take 60 questions in total.
  • If a student scores at the top end of their expected range, set them the level above as well. Conversely for the bottom end.
  • Set the 'Extended Timing' version for slower readers, using the filter at the top of this page.

When the students have finished, you can use the Results -> Quiz Analysis page to discover the strengths and weaknesses of the class or whole cohort. For the clearest data, set the "collate by category" option under the Advanced Search.

The timing of these tests has been set to encourage average students to maintain focus and motivation. For more reluctant readers, you should set the otherwise-equivalent extended timing version .
